Jonathan Taylor Hearing from ACC and SEC

Jenkins County DT Jonathan Taylor

Jenkins County defensive tackle Jonathon Taylor, like his teammate James Deloach is being pursued by most of the schools in the ACC and SEC. Also, like his teammate, Taylor has one offer from each of those two conferences.

The 2012 Jenkins County recruit already has the size that teams recruiting him are looking for in a defensive tackle. "I'm 6'4"-305."

Jenkins County has not had the type of season that Jonathan Taylor and his teammates had hoped for when they began the season. "We have some very good players on our team but we are missing a few important pieces and have not had the best of seasons."

Taylor is known for his ability to rush the passer. "I went to a lot of the camps last summer and learned a lot of new techniques on pass rushing." Taylor combined them into ones that he felt would work best for him. "My coaches have said my pass rush is very strong."

While Taylor feels he's a strong pass rusher, he has some things he wants to improve before he finishes his high school career. "I have to get better at staying low because low man wins the battle."

Taylor made the trip to Jacksonville for the Georgia-Florida game but was not a guest of either team. "I just wanted to check it out and see what it was all about."

Georgia is one of the teams that are recruiting Taylor. "The ones I hear from are Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and LSU." Most of the schools contacting Taylor are from the ACC and the SEC.

All the schools are recruiting Taylor hard but one has gotten his notice. "Georgia Tech is stepping up their recruitment of me and they just offered me and my teammate (James Deloach) this past week," said Taylor. "Tennessee is also recruiting me hard." Georgia Tech and Tennessee are the two schools that have offered Taylor thus far.

Taylor is being recruited at Georgia Tech by a coach that is well known in his part of the state. "Coach (Mike) Sewak is my recruiting coach and he is pretty well known around here from his days at Georgia Southern."

Like his teammate James Deloach, Taylor does not have a list of favorites at this time. "It is very early in the process and I need to learn more about each school and see what relationships I develop with the coaches from each school."

Taylor has plans to attend a few more college games before the regular season ends. "I know I will be at the Georgia Tech – Miami game on the 13th and I will attend the Georgia Tech – Georgia game at the end of the month." Taylor also hopes to make it to the Auburn – Alabama game.
