Now that Brian Gregory has been named the new Georgia Tech coach, one of his highest priorities is to secure his 2011 recruiting class, led by the 6-7 standout Julian Royal. And, the fiery Gregory has done just that as Charles Royal shared.
Coach Gregory contacted Julian shortly after his press conference Monday afternoon. "We had a brief phone conversation and Coach Gregory will be at our house tomorrow to continue the conversation."
Charles knows that it is impossible to make up for the previous four years recruitment in a matter of a few days. "We do look forward to finding out if there's a mutual agreement in what Julian's role will be at Tech and we are anxious to listen to him and ensure there is a good fit for Julian at Tech."
Charles and Julian have been doing some homework on Coach Gregory since the announcement was made that he would be the next Georgia Tech coach. "We've heard from some people who feel very good about his coach resume but we agree that being able to look him in the eye will be important as we discuss Julian's future." Julian is looking forward to going to school at Georgia Tech. "We just don't want Coach Gregory to feel he's been force fed a recruit."
Even though his season is over Julian has been busy post-season. "Julian played in a national all-star game in Augusta, Georgia sponsored by former NBA and Atlanta Hawk Mo Evans." Julian performed well against some good talent. "Later in the week we leave for Houston for another all-start game in conjunction with the final four."
