Don Bosco safety Elijah Shumate
has close to forty offers but his latest offer is one that has drawn his interest. Shumate and his cousin Will Robinson made the trip from New Jersey to Atlanta for Georgia Tech
Shumate was impressed with what he saw. "It was a good experience and there was a lot of talent out
there." The coaches worked with Elijah on things he needed to improve to be successful at the next
level. "I really enjoyed the experience."
The practice field was not the only thing that Shumate saw on his visit. "I got a full tour of the campus before camp and I loved it."
Shumate met with secondary Coach Charles Kelly but it was his conversation with Coach Paul Johnson
that put a smile on his face. He pulled me aside and said he had an offer for me." The offer brings
Shumate's total to 40.
Elijah is not in a hurry to pare down his list. "I have a lot of schools that I like a lot. I'm definitely going to put Georgia Tech high on my list now."
Distance from home will not be a major factor in Shumate's decision. "If the school fits me and I like the school and the coaches then distance won't be a problem." Shumate will also be looking for a school where he can come in and work hard with a chance to play. "I'll definitely look at the depth chart."
Shumate is not ready to name a favorite's list but he does have a few schools that have gotten his
attention. "Georgia Tech is high on my list and I like Michigan, Notre Dame and South Carolina."
Shumate has definite plans to visit Michigan before he begins his senior year.
Elijah is also looking for a school that he and his cousin can both attend. "Georgia Tech is looking at him as an option quarterback." Both were impressed with what they saw on their visit.
