So, enter Pierre Jordan, a 6'1/2 " point guard, who graduated from Florida State August 6th and will enter a Masters Program in Building Construction at Tech next week with two years of eligibility after a redshirt freshman year in Tallahassee. He is eligible immediately.
Pierre's road to Georgia Tech was started by an unlikely person. "Coach (Leonard) Hamilton (FSU) put the word out that I had two years remaining and I got a call from Coach (Chad) Dollar." Dollar recruited Pierre when he was a senior at Dunwoody and Dollar was at LSU. Pierre then heard from Coach Gregory. "I'm not sure when this was, but I think it was right after they got to Tech."
Georgia Tech was not the only school to take a look at Jordan. "I looked at some other schools like Winthrop and Georgia Southern and then heard from some schools in the Atlantic 10."By then, Jordan had made up his mind.
Jordan chose Tech hoping to develop his skills to be able to play somewhere after college. "Overseas and a masters degree from Georgia Tech could be my key to a great life."
Pierre has been on campus a few days now. He has also come up a few weekends to play with his new teammates. He has a history with a few of them. "I knew Nate (Hicks), who played for my dad's team, The Atlanta Xpress in AAU and Glenn Rice and Mfon (Udofia)."
Jordan feels he'll fit in well with his new team and his new coach. "He's a great guy and upfront with you. And, I like his style of play."
Pierre's role with the team has already been defined for him. They will be looking to him for leadership on and off the court as well as distributing the ball and hitting the open jumper. "I know my way around the ACC and that should help. I hope to help put Tech back to where they were when I was in high school."
For now, Pierre's focus will be orientation week at his new school.
