Anthony Autry and his mom made the short trip to Atlanta for the visit. "My mom and I had a fantastic time. She really enjoyed the trip and was having a good time just like I was." Anthony was impressed with how everyone went out of their way to make them feel at home. "The trip was fantastic and I really enjoyed it."
Anthony enjoyed it so much that he decided to go ahead and commit to Georgia Tech. "I told Coach (Paul) Johnson and Coach (Charles) Kelly that I knew I wanted to go to Georgia Tech and was giving them my commitment." Both coaches told Autry how excited they were to have him in the Georgia Tech family.
The decision wasn't a difficult one for Autry. "I looked at everything Georgia Tech has to offer and knew it was the place for me." Anthony is looking to major in mechanical engineering and he had a chance to talk to a professor about the engineering school. "You can't find a better degree that what Georgia Tech has to offer you and that meant a lot to me and my mom."
Autry's mom loves that he'll be close to home. "She doesn't have far to go to see me play or just to see me. She loves what Georgia Tech has to offer and supports my decision fully."
Anthony was hosted on the visit by Georgia Tech B Back Charles Perkins. He spent most of his time with Perkins and quarterback Vad Lee. "They both had great things to say about Georgia Tech and how much they love it there."
Getting to see the football facilities were just part of the visit for Autry. "We had academic representatives come in and talk with us about being a student-athlete at Georgia Tech It makes your realize that you are getting a very valuable degree paid for by being a student-athlete there."
Autry also sat in on the players position meetings. He spent some time with the defensive backs in their meeting and then moved over to wide receiver meeting. "The coaches told me they were recruiting me as an athlete so I was able to sit in on both."
The coaches let Autry know he could choose his position. "I would most likely be playing at the one that suits my play the best. I am being looked at in the defensive backfield either as a corner or safety and as a wide receiver." The position he plays doesn't matter to Autry as long as he gets a chance to play and make a contribution to the team.
"I know where I want to go and I am done with my recruitment."
