Where's The Final Stop For The Frain Train?
Ryan Frain is now down to just Illinois and Georgia Tech, and he was in Atlanta to take his official visit this weekend. "I had a fantastic time," Frain said of his official visit. "I thought it was really good. We had a full day worth of activities the other day. They rented out the rec center for us yesterday and after that we had meetings with our coaches. They showed us the campus and everything and then the coaches left us with the players for the night." The visit was Frain's first opportunity to see the Georgia Tech campus in person and he was thrilled with what he took in. "I love the campus. I thought that it was awesome being in downtown Atlanta. I feel like they have kept the traditional campus feeling, even though it's in downtown Atlanta. I absolutely love the campus. I also like where the stadium is and there's a lot to do there in Atlanta." While on campus, Frain was able to spend a good amount of time talking to some of the Georgia Tech coaches, who made it very clear that they would love to have Frain play for the Yellow Jackets next season. "The main thing they were telling me is how badly they need a good punter and kicker to come in and compete for a spot next season. That's pretty much the biggest thing. They said that I would have an opportunity to compete for all three of the kicking positions." With the Georgia Tech coaches telling Frain that they are definitely looking to bring in a kicker/punter in this class, he knows that he will have to make his decision soon so that the Yellow Jackets do not offer his scholarship to another prospect. As things stand currently, it appears that Frain will likely have his final decision in another week. Right now, Georgia Tech has to feel good about their chances. "Georgia Tech has just had such an impact on me. I don't know what I am going to do at this point. Technically, I'm still committed to Illinois. I talked to their new coach (Tim Beckman) last night and I'm taking my official visit to Illinois on Saturday. I talked to Coach (Paul) Johnson and told him I would let him know as soon as possible. When I was walking out, Coach (Mike) Sewak asked me what percentage I was for Georgia Tech, and I told him that it is 60-40 Georgia Tech right now."
