Summers Could Make Impact On Fall Saturdays

Wide receiver Micheal Summers, who committed to the Yellow Jackets in June, enjoyed his official visit to Georgia Tech over the weekend. And how could he not – the visit came complete with a commitment from his childhood friend.

The visit by the senior from Statesboro (Georgia) High School was meant to tie up any loose ends remaining before Signing Day, and he was very happy to finally have a chance to see the new indoor practice fields he'd heard so much about. Describing the facility as "one of the nicest I have ever seen," Summers was noticeably excited about the thought of working out on those fields.

Hosted over the weekend by quarterback Vad Lee, Micheal Summers felt great about the way he was treated by his future teammates. Before the visit, Lee told Summers that he had asked to host the senior. Summers said the two have a cool relationship, and he felt like Vad's little brother.

When Summers had a chance to meet with the coaches, they told him exactly what he wanted to hear.

"The coaches told me that I have a chance to make a huge impact as soon as I set foot on campus," Summers said.

One of the high points of the weekend was when Summers' teammate and childhood friend, Freddie Burden, was offered by the Yellow Jackets. He committed just hours later.

"I'm very proud of Freddie – we're very close," Summers said. "It's so great that we'll have the chance to play together for four more years."

As for making the commitment to Georgia Tech official, Summers said the plan is to sign with the Yellow Jackets the morning of Feb. 1, in his school auditorium, with his buddy Burden.
