Defensive lineman Jacovian (Jay) Woods waited patiently for the Yellow Jackets to offer, and the coaches made sure to get the good news to the Jackson (GA) High School junior soon after he arrived on campus.

"I went up to (head coach) Paul Johnson's office, and he told me I had good grades and they like that I'm good, on and off the field," Woods said. "He told me they're very picky about offers, so that should tell me something."

Woods raved about the Saturday visit to the campus, mostly because he was thrilled by what he saw on the academic side of the campus. He had a chance to reconnect with his recruiting coach Joe Speed and the other coaches on the Georgia Tech staff, and had the chance to catch up with a current player who he had met before.

"I had a memorable talk with (offensive lineman) Errin Joe," Woods said. "I thought he looked familiar, and when we got to talking, I realized he was my roommate at a Georgia football camp."

While he said he had a couple of opportunities to speak with the other 2013 recruits on the trip, none of the conversations were quite like the one he had with Joe. He was told that each coach was different, but Woods isn't too worried – he said he loved the campus and loved the football facilities, so he is most worried about the routine of college life.

Now that he has an offer from Georgia Tech, Woods said there is no doubt at all who he has listed as his top team. "Georgia Tech is definitely sitting at the top of my list," he said.

As far as future visits go, Woods told the coaches he would be back in Atlanta for the Yellow Jackets' Spring Game.
