In many ways, as Kennedy Meeks goes, so goes his Lions team. He will be on display Saturday at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina when they take on New Hanover High School in the 4-A State Finals. His 14 points and 15 rebounds helped send them to the championship game.
Georgetown and North Carolina are two of the schools thatmay be showing him more interest than the others. "I don't have an offer from Carolina but I expect to get one."
Georgetown and North Carolina are also the two schools that have received unofficial visits from Meeks.
Kennedy is not ready to eliminate any schools from his list. "They're all still under consideration." They both had one thing in common. "I really liked the atmosphere there."
Georgia Tech is another school that is getting Kennedy's attention. "I like them. They were there at the beginning for my recruiting." Kennedy has talked to Georgia Tech Coach Brian Gregory. "He told me he was there to win and wanted me to be a part of that."
Most of the major programs have tendered offers to Meeks but for now he doesn't have any visit plans following this season. "I will be focused on playing AAU ball."
Meeks will be looking for a school where he can play early. One of the questions that is asked about highly ranked recruits is will they play all four years. Kennedy is not sure what he will do. "We'll just have to see how things go."
The decision from Meeks will probably take place this summer. Kennedy will be getting advise from his parents, his aunt, and his high school coach on that decision.
Grades will not be an issue for the school that Kennedy selects. "I just made the National Honor Society. My aunt pushes me pretty hard and academics are important to her and me."
