Barber Not Caught Up In Conference Talk

Milton RB Peyton Barber

Milton running back Peyton Barber combines power with speed and the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. These traits have garnered him seven offers. The latest offer came on Thursday from an in-state school.

Peyton received the news of his new offer from his high school coach. "He told me that Coach Lamar Owens of Georgia Tech had called him and told him that he had something to tell me." Barber called Coach Owens back and received the news that the Jackets were officially extending him an offer. "I was very excited to hear this news."

Coach Owens let Barber know that the Georgia Tech coaches like his running style. "He said I had the perfect size to be their feature back at the B-Back position and that they are very high on me and really want me at Georgia Tech." Tech is recruiting Barber as a B-Back as opposed to the other schools that want him as a tailback.

Peyton was excited to get the latest offer. He was happy to receive itnow instead of waiting until later this summer. "It puts Georgia Tech up there on my list right now."

The offer from Georgia Tech brings Barber's offer list to seven. Clemson, UCF, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Louisville are the others that have offered. "I am very open to all the schools that have offered and I am waiting to see what other schools offer."

"I can tell you one thing, I am not going to get caught up in the SEC/ACC talk." All the conference hype talk isn't a big deal to Peyton.

Peyton is hoping to take some visits this spring to the schools that have offered him and are showing him interest. He has plans to attend the Georgia Tech spring game. "I really love that it is on a Friday night." Barber also plans to attend the spring games at Clemson, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt.

In the meantime, Peyton will be working on his conditioning. "I am running track this year and run in the 100, 200 and 4 x 100 events. Barber has also been lifting weights three to four days a week. "Some numbers I just did were 535 pounds in the squat, 335 pounds for a bench press, and 315 pounds in the power clean."
