Paul Davis Is Out To Prove Himself

Cairo, Georgia defensive back Paul Davis made the trip to Atlanta Friday for the Georgia Tech summer camp. The goal for Davis was to show the coaches that his size shouldn't stop him from being a division one player.

"I want to show that I'm a D1 player because everyone says I'm too short." Davis is confident that he has the talent to be that player. Paul worked out with the defensive backs at the Tech camp but has also played middle linebacker. He was voted the top linebacker at the MVP camp in Valdosta, Georgia and was one of the top linebackers at the Orlando, Florida camp.

Prior to visiting Tech, Davis was in Athens to visit Georgia and he has also visited UAB. "I have offers from Coastal Carolina, Presbyterian, and Tennessee-Chattanooga." Davis is also being recruited by Clemson, Florida State, Central Florida, Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech.

Paul is in no rush to list any favorites. He wants to visit more camps hoping that he'll begin to receive additional offers. His busy summer schedule will continue next week with visits to Troy, Mississippi State, and Clemson. One of the things that Paul will be looking at on the visits will be his relationship with the coaches. "I'm also going to look at the academics at the school, the depth chart, and I'll look to see how they treat me."

Davis is being recruited at Tech by defensive line coach Andy McCollum. "He likes what he's seen from me and he said I made a big impression." Many felt that Davis was the best player at the camp Friday. "Coach McCollum said they are going to recruit me real hard. They're trying to figure out where they would play me." Paul is taking things slow and he doesn't have a time table for making his college choice. "I just want to wait and see how things progress this summer."
