Jordan Starnes Wants To Stay Close To Home

South Stanley High School (NC) outside linebacker Jordan Starnes has one offer. At one time Starnes held an offer from North Carolina but the new coaching staff withdrew the offer.

Jordan Starnes recently attended the North Carolina State camp. "I felt I did well there and Coach Bridges and I have a good relationship." Jordan is waiting to see if they'll offer.

The lone offer for Starnes is from Georgia Tech. The offer from North Carolina was pulled when former coach Butch Davis was replaced. "The new staff wants me to come to their camp to see me perform and then go from there."

This would normally put Georgia Tech in a good position but some things have changed in Jordan's life and he may want to stay close to home. "Don't get me wrong. I like Georgia Tech a lot and I love the program and the school."

Jordan is being recruited by Georgia Tech special teams coach Dave Wolkosky. Coach Walkolsky and I get along great and he says they are very interested in me." Starnes feels that if nothing close to home works out, he will be making a trip back down to Georgia Tech some time this summer and possibly commit to them.

Virginia Tech is a new school that has begun recruiting Starnes. Like Georgia Tech, they are not close to home. "I feel that if neither home school offers I will be going to Georgia Tech."

The 3-4 defensive scheme employed by Georgia Tech is not an issue with Jordan's recruitment. "Actually I prefer the 3-4. When I was at North Carolina State for their camp, that came up." Starnes feels he could adapt to the 4-3 but he prefers being that outside linebacker in the 3-4. "I feel it fits my skill set better."

Starnes has plans to visit North Carolina later this month or early July. "I should know something from them in July about whether they still want to offer me or not."

"I'd like to have my recruiting over with by the end of the summer or at the latest, a couple of weeks into my season." Jordan is hoping that his recruitment won't drag out.
