Cleveland was at a loss for words when he received the offer from Coach Johnson. "I'm just grateful that Coach Johnson extended me the offer."
The education he'll receive at Tech played a big role in his decision. "It was a good decision not only for the four years I'll be here but for afterwards."
Cleveland knew there was a possibility of receiving an offer at the camp. "I knew they wanted me to come here and Coach (Charles) Kelly really stressed that I get up here so I could compete." Cleveland didn't expect to come out with an offer.
In the afternoon session of the camp, the Tech coaches selected a small group of defensive backs to compete for the scholarship. "I figured I would be in the top group." Cleveland knew that performing well in that group could lead to an offer. It was satisfying for Cleveland know that he competed against some recruits with offers from some big schools. "I knew I could compete so it wasn't really a surprise."
The commit continues a line of Hillgrove athletes playing for Georgia Tech. Cleveland follows Tech quarterback Synjyn Days and Jabari Hunt-Days. "It's pretty exciting to have my name on the wall with Jabari and Synjyn." Both players are guys that Cleveland admires.
Being able to say that his recruitment is over was a relief for Cleveland. "I'm glad I got it over with now so I can focus on my senior season." Cleveland also was happy to see the excitement the coaches showed when he committed. "This is the place I wanted to be."
