The Jets are banking on their 2012 rookie draft class to make a major splash this upcoming season. Find out how New York's top two draft picks fared in their first preseason game.

It takes a lot to impress New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis but so far this preseason he likes what he sees from a pair of Gang Green’s rookies. Defensive end Quinton Coples and wide receiver Stephen Hill caught the attention of Revis with their penchant for the spectacular play.

Coples, a former North Carolina standout, tallied five tackles (two for a loss of yardage) and a sack during the Jets 17-6 loss Friday night in Cincinnati.

While many were surprised by the immediate impact Coples’ made in the early preseason action, Revis expects more of the same from New York’s top draft choice.

“Well he’s (a first-round draft) pick,” said Revis. “We drafted him there for a reason and he’s showed why he’s a number one pick. He made a lot of plays out there, he had a great game. Also, it’s still a learning curve, he has a long way to go, but I think he’s going to do great (things) for us this year.”

While Coples hit the ground running in his Jets’ debut, Hill had some growing pains to go along with flashes of brilliant athleticism and jaw-dropping moves.

Revis has taken the former Georgia Tech star under his wing this summer to help him understand the nuances of route running and develop his receiving repertoire.

“Yeah, basically just finish his routes. (I) just (told) him a (few of the) things that I’ve experienced that receivers have done to me, and for him to put them in his game. It’s a learning curve for him, but he’s taken a great stride in it and he’s out there working, he’s doing the best he can.”

“One thing about him, he’s a great kid, he listens, he wants to get better, said Revis of Hill’s work ethic and character. “I think that’s the big thing about him. He’s humble, he just tries to go out there and work hard.”
