PC: Mattes, Johnson Meet The Media

RALEIGH, N.C. -- R.J. Mattes and Dontae Johnson met with the media to discuss Saturday's game against Clemson.

R.J. Mattes

"A lot of times int he last couple of weeks we haven't established the line of scrimmage."

"Losing Zach Allen has hurt because he's a mauler, we'd always run behind him."

"It was good for Shadrach to have over 100 yards."

"He's a physical runner, the way he runs, the way he cuts."

"We've got different variations of snap counts that we have to work on this week."

"Every year Clemson has good defensive ends."

"We have to make sure we set the holes for the running backs and also protect Mike."

"It's been a roller-coaster ride. The way we played against Wake was kind of frustrating because we should have played that way against UNC and Virginia."

"You can't come out dead against a team like [Clemson], otherwise you'll get stomped."

"I want to end on a high note. We've been here five years together."

"The hour glass has flipped over. We're almost done."

"I don't think we have a shot at [a championship] now but we want to go further and get to a good bowl game."

"We can't be two different teams... we have to play consistently all four quarters."

Dontae Johnson

"Clemson has great athletes all across the board, offense and defense. Last year we just played with an energy and passion, the whole team. We've just got to bring that this week."

"I can go inside and play nickel [against spread offenses]. It's pretty fun."

"They are great athletes. They are putting up big numbers all year."

"Hopefully we can come out on top."

"We want to do that on a consistent basis. Last week we had a great win, a team win."

"We're going to be playing on the road... by us playing physical, it gives us energy and enthusiasm and will help us with motivation."

"We're just ready for the challenge."

"It's definitely ahuge game. We lost to them two years ago in Death Valley, and a lot of the team is still here from that [loss]. we just wat to go down tehre and show we can win on the road."

"Since Clemson is ranked and we'll be playing them at home, at htei rhouse, it will definitely help us."
