Once they were offered, Lance said that the commitment was something he and his brother couldn't pass up. "We went to the camp at Georgia Tech on June 9th and the coaches told us that they like what they saw. They talked about offering us and wanted us to come back up the next day for an extensive visit." The twins couldn't make the return trip until Monday.
When the brothers arrived on campus, they met with Coach Ted Roof, Coach Andy McCollum, and Coach Paul Johnson. They also met with the academic advisors. "Coach Roof said he and Coach (Joe) Speed and Coach McCollum were very impressed with our camp performance and that the corners they have now will be seniors at the end of the upcoming football season. He said that we could come in and with a strong fall camp earn playing time both on special teams and in the defensive backfield."
Getting a degree from Georgia Tech was the biggest selling point in their decision to commit on the visit. "If we can't play at the next level, we will have an education that will give us a good life to live."
Lawrence let us know that they both liked South Carolina, Stanford, and Vanderbilt a lot. Lawrence talked about another factor in their decision. "It's close to home so that my grandmother and the rest of the family can easily come see us play. At the same time, it is not too close and gives us some freedom."
The time they spent on campus sealed the deal for the twins. "We both felt good about our decision and felt real good about what Coach Roof was telling us." The twins liked Coach Roof's tell it like it is approach.
As a side note, the twins said that going to the same school, having a chance to be on the field at the same time, and going to a BCS school made the decision a no brainer.
