The visit took place at Jake’s high school and Jake had all his family members there. “My mom, dad, step parents, some other family members, and my head coach were all there.” Some of Jake’s family members attended the camp and others were at the official visit. “My dad really liked Coach Johnson and said that he loved the fact that he looks out for his players. He made an impression on my dad.”

The coaches assured Jake and the family members that the rumors of Coach Johnson leaving were not true and was never mentioned by him or his staff to any reporter. The coaches also talked with Jake about his signing day plans. “I told them that we would be holding a ceremony at my high school starting at 8:00 AM and that 11 players on the team will be signing FBS scholarships that day. I am looking forward to putting my name on my LOI and officially becoming a Yellow Jacket.”

Jake also was told about what to expect with the conditioning program. Jake will be receiving conditioning info in the mail after signing day. “They also talked to me about me staying at tackle instead of moving to center as they originally wanted.” Coach Johnson envisions Jake at tackle and Jake Whitely at guard next to him. “He says we would be a great combo on that side of the center and he likes that idea more and more.”

Despite being committed to Georgia Tech, Jake still received calls from other schools. “At first I just told them I am firm on my decision and that they couldn’t change my mind.” Jake is no longer speaking to schools that call. “I’m not trying to be rude but when you are determined to go to Georgia Tech, there is no reason to talk about other school.”

“I can’t wait to get up there to show everyone I’m coming in ready to work hard, earn playing time, and show them what I can do on the football field.”
