Searcy Has a Blast on Official Visit

Lamar County, Georgia athlete Qua Searcy was in Atlanta this weekend for his official visit to Georgia Tech. Searcy joined two of his high school teammates, six future Tech teammates, and one other recruit for the weekend visit.

Searcy came away from the visit knowing that he made the right decision. "It was great. Everyone treated us great and made us feel welcome. We had a great time."

The recruits arrived on campus Friday. Searcy was hosted by Tech freshman linebacker P.J. Davis. "We went out to eat and then I hung out with my host PJ Davis and some of the other commits and players. We had a blast."

Saturday gave Qua and his parents a chance to tour the campus. They visited the athletic facilities, the academic side of things, and the dorms. The tour gave Qua another look at everything he'll be seeing during his career at Tech.

The favorite part of the trip for Qua was getting to spend time with his fellow commits and the current players. "Everyone is close, especially the current class. We are all on the same page about what we want at Georgia Tech and will be working hard towards that goal."

On a previous visit to campus, the coaches talked with Qua about the possibility of playing on either side of the ball. This visit gave Qua a chance to find out where he'll start out. "On this visit they told me they were looking at me playing wide receiver to take advantage of my height and strength."

Qua is looking for any way possible to get on the field. One of those ways could be returning kicks. " I will talk to them about returning kicks as soon as I can. Returning kickoffs is one thing I like and seem to do well."

The great weekend visit re-affirmed Searcy's decision to attend Georgia Tech. "I can't wait for signing day at my high school so I can sign my LOI."
