Profile - Harland Howell
The coaches have been getting updates on Howell and to talking to his coach. Wheeler is in the middle of spring practice so many have had the chance to see Howell practice.
One of the recent visitors was Coach Andy McCollum from Georgia Tech. Tech would like Howell to be one of their big play receivers. "I know Coach McCollum really wants me to commit. He told my coach they would love to have me. They really want me at Georgia Tech."
Howell likes the way that Tech is recruiting him. "They are letting me know I am the one they want." Other schools are telling Howell that he would spend four years of doing nothing but blocking if he went to Tech.
That tactic is not working with Howell. He is not letting the negative recruiting affect his opinions. "All I know is that Demaryius Thomas put up huge numbers as a wide receiver under Coach (Paul) Johnson. I know if I went there, I would expect myself to do the same."
Georgia, Tennessee, Charlotte, and Louisville are some of the other schools that have stopped by to visit Howell. "With another week to go, I feel even more teams will show up to evaluate me."
Howell doesn't have plans to attend any summer camps and he doesn't have plans to visit the schools that have offered him. "I want to go to the schools that I haven't seen that much and get to know them better." Clemson, Louisville, Michigan State, and Tennessee will most likely get those visits.
Naming a top five is something that Harland has yet to do. "I have some schools in mind but I am not ready to name an official top five." Harland will take some more visits before naming his top five.
A July decision is in the works for Howell. "I want to get it done
before school starts." Once Harland makes his decision, he will be shutting down his recruitment.
Wheeler High School (GA)has been a destination for college coaches during the evaluation period. Receiver Harland Howell is one of the Wheeler players that is getting their attention.
Harland Howell is looking to make a decision in July.
