Profile - TaQuon Marshall
Harris County, Georgia athlete TaQuon Marshall had been offered by 18 schools. Marshall narrowed his list to five schools. Tuesday night TaQuon gave his verbal commit to Georgia Tech.
TaQuon feels blessed to have received the attention he did during his recruitment. “I’m very blessed to have so many schools interested in me and I’m glad it is over.” Marshall now looks forward to concentrating on his senior season. “It’s a lot of pressure off my shoulders."
The decision was not an easy one for Marshall. "Each school had some great positives but Georgia Tech has so much going for them.” TaQuon cited the world class education and the chance to play for a high caliber program against quality opponents as a few of the reasons for choosing Tech. “I went back and forth but once I got it down to five, it became clearer for me."
Being able to play close to home also played a role in Marshall’s decision. “I didn't mind going away to play but I know my family and friends will easily be able to come see me and my new teammates play each home game.”
TaQuon let Coach Paul Johnson know of his decision earlier today. "He was super excited. He said he couldn't wait to talk about me being the newest Georgia Tech commit tomorrow at the coaches meeting.”
Marshall will be playing the A Back position in the Georgia Tech offense. "Not only will I get to run the ball, but I’ll also be able to catch passes out of the backfield and show how I can block.”
Now that he is a Tech commit, TaQuon plans to help recruit for the remaining scholarship openings. "I know a lot of the players committed and I know a lot that Tech is still recruiting. I want to help bring home national championship. It all starts with getting players that are in it for the title."
