Florida QB Commits to Tech

Jonathan Garner made an announcement a few days ago that he would end his recruitment this week, and on Wednesday morning he did just that. Garner will be a Yellow Jacket.

"I picked Georgia Tech because they have a great coaching staff and the players really want to win a national championship. They are a very close team and the academics are top notch," Jonathan Garner said.

What did he think of the Jackets' staff?

"Coach Gailey is a real impressive guy. He's a solid man and he seems like a great man to play for. Coach Geis recruited me and he's been around a lot of great players like Troy Aikman and other successful quarterbacks."

Garner actually notified the GT coaches of his decision on his visit this past weekend.

"We went to Coach Gailey's house and watched the NFL games on Saturday and they are just everyday, normal people. I called my dad and told him that was the place I wanted to be."

Jonathan grew up cheering for the Gators, but it appears his heart no lies with the Yellow Jackets.

"My dream growing up was to play for Florida, but I'm happy things worked out the way I did. I told them I was committing on my visit and they were just very happy. Hopefully we can get some more guys on the offensive side of the ball."

The commitment of Garner will add that much more depth to the quarterback pool on the ‘Flats. He becomes the 12th player to give a verbal commitment GT in the class of '05.
