GoJackets.com was at Saturday's scrimmage as the team continued preparations for the 2006 season. Ryan Bass was there to witness the action and bring us his "expert analysis" from the practice field (as well as some exclusive pictures).

Here is a portion of the practice report.

3. Coach did say that despite the poor play on offense; the flip side is that the first team defense was just that good. He seemed to think that this scrimmage will be a huge confidence booster for the first team defense.

7. The backup center, Trey Dunmon, could be heard all the way up the stands encouraging the rest of the 2nd to continue fighting on one of their better drives. I hadn't heard that kind of vocal leadership out of him in the past.

11. Taylor Bennett had several very good moments today. The play of the day was a bomb for a TD to Greg Smith. Taylor also once stepped up into the pocket after it collapsed. It looked like he was going to tuck it for a run but he pulled up and found Colin Peek wide open along the sideline. Peek rumbled down the line and broke free for a TD.

18. On the kickoff team Mohamed Yahiaoui solidified his role as the kick off guy. He put one 4 yards deep in the endzone against the wind. Then, after switching sides, he knocked one completely out of the endzone going the other way. I think we're set there. Nice to know that position is solved this season.
