Derek Winter, a 6-foot, rising senior receiver out of Plant Senior High School in Tampa, is a very hard working, productive receiver. He has good speed, great hands, and runs his routes to a T. Derek already has offers from Army and South Florida, but he is gaining interest from Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and North Carolina.
He and his rising junior quarterback teammate, Aaron Murray, visited a few camps last weekend and this is what he shared with GoJackets.com about his favorite one:
“Georgia Tech’s camp was the best camp I went to. There were a lot of people; there must have been over a hundred kids there. Some of the guys were supposedly top talents in the nation. My favorite drill was the 1 on 1 drill where I got to match up with some of the best recruits. We also got to tour the campus. I really liked it, although I’d already been there before for the Elite 11 camp. The facilities are great and I love the stadium. I talked with a lot of the coaches, and my recruiting coach said he was working on an offer for me.”
Winter also said he wants his recruitment to be over with at the end of the summer, so he can focus on the upcoming season. His top schools include Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and UNC. He’ll be heading to North Carolina this weekend for a visit.
