"Everything went real smooth [this weekend]," said Lockhart. "I toured the facilities – where the players play – and a couple dorm rooms. I went around the campus and to the recreation center and everything was real impressive and it's A.T.L. The campus is actually secluded in its own part so it's not like you're in the big city like everyone thinks, so it's a real cool environment."
Jon, who is being recruited to GT by Coach Charles Kelly, bumped into some other recruits while visiting on Friday. "I actually toured the campus with Richard Watson and when I was coming in A.J. Jenkins was leaving," said Lockhart.
Several teams have been in the mix with Jon but he has trimmed all of those teams off of his list except for two finalists. "I've got offers from Mississippi State lately, Indiana, UCF, USF, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Duke," said Lockhart. "I have a top two teams and it's pretty much Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt because of their good football programs and good academics."
Jon wasn't swayed into making a decision after the trip this weekend; he still has one more thing left to do. "I want to decide pretty soon but I want to visit both of them before I decide so I can get a feel for both of the programs," said Lockhart.
He hasn't yet scheduled that trip, "but I want to go soon," said Lockhart.
The race between the Yellow Jackets and Commodores is a tight one at this time and too close to call. When asked if either had an edge at this time he said, "Probably Georgia Tech because I've visited and it's in Atlanta. If I go to Vandy, it will probably be even again, so I don't know."
In the end Lockhart said it will come down to, "location and the academics and my Mom's input and my Dad's and all of that."
