So how did Tyler's visit go?
"The visit was more like a reunion actually, rather than an official visit. Just getting to see all my friends again. We got to eat at Bones, Capital Grille, which was very nice, and then we got to go to the ESPNZone. So, everything was just really nice. Chris Jackson was the only other recruit on his official visit the same weekend."
Melton also got the chance to sit down with new head coach Paul Johnson:
"Coach Johnson sat down with me and first just wanted to get to know me on a personal level. He also wanted to talk to me about his offense. He wanted me to know that he does throw the ball and will throw it in his offense. We were able to watch some film, and Coach Johnson just kind of pointed out to me where I could be used."
What were Tyler's impressions of the new coach?
"On a personal level, I like him. I think he's a good guy. You know, we'll see. I've researched him and he's a winner. You know, he definitely knows how to win. I think he will take Georgia Tech to the next level."
Tyler suffered an ACL tear a year ago and says he is ready to compete.
"I'm fully healthy and ready to go. I want to come in the spring and try and earn a spot somewhere. I'm a competitive person."
Melton doesn't really plan on red shirting. It's been a long wait for him and he's anxious to put on that White and Gold. Those of you Yellow Jacket fans who attend spring practices regularly will get your first look at Tyler in just a few short months.
