Aycock Recaps GT Visit
Highly sought after quarterback Dontae Aycock just completed his official visit to Georgia Tech. He talked about the visit and informed us when and where he will be making his decision and what schools remain on his list. How did your visit go at Georgia Tech? "It went really well. I really enjoyed it. I had a great time. I got a chance to see everything Georgia Tech had to offer on my official visit. I liked the visit very much." How would you rate the visit? "I would give it a 10 rating. It went that well." What did you do on the visit? "I toured the campus which is very nice. I got a chance to see the facilities which are ones that really made the visit a great one. I got a chance to see and meet all the coaches and talk with the players there. I really like everything Tech has to offer. It's a great place." Did you get a chance to talk with Coach Johnson one-on-one and if so what did he have to say? "Yes sir, I did. He told me that he really wanted me at Georgia Tech and how much he thinks I can add to making the team that much better in the future. He said he was recruiting me as a quarterback and that he feels I can add a lot to the position if I came to Tech. I really liked him a lot as he made me feel wanted." Who was your host at Tech? "Anthony Allen was my host. I know Anthony went to Louisville, but he didn't have anything to say about them at all. He talked about how good Tech is to him. He said nothing bad about Louisville. He was first class all the way. We got along great. We are both from Tampa as he went to Jesuit and I am at Chamberlain. We hit it off really well. He showed me a lot about Georgia Tech and showed me how good the players get along with one another." Do you have a leader now that your visits are over? "No sir, I have two schools that I am considering in Georgia Tech and Louisville and possibly a third in Illinois. I went to Louisville on a visit two weeks ago and I liked that visit too. I can't say right now I have a leader." What will be the factors that you will use in making a decision? "The current players, how well I get along with the coaches, coaching stability, the education I will get, and how well the team shapes up for the future. All of it will play a part in my decision. I will sit down for the next couple of weeks and weigh all of these factors and make my decision." How about playing position? "I don't feel that will be a factor. Tech is recruiting me as quarterback and Louisville as a running back. In Tech's system, the quarterback is almost a running back that has the chance to pass when needed, so that is not a problem." When will you definitely announce your decision? "I will announce my decision first thing signing day at my high school. I want to use the time between now and signing day to make sure I make the right choice as it will affect the next 4 to 5 years of my life. I need to be sure it is the right one." Dale's Take: Dontae was very upbeat about his visit and he really enjoyed his time in Atlanta. He said a few times that he will sit down and study everything and make a sound decision so he is playing things very close to the vest concerning his decision. It looks like it will boil down to education and the relationship he has developed with the coaches and players at Georgia Tech and Louisville. Maybe it will come down to whether he likes having the ball in his hands to make decisions for the team or whether he'd rather just run the ball.
