Union Grove defensive end Anthony Williams says he is up to 12 or 13 offers. He said that Oklahoma State, East Carolina, Indiana, and Auburn are some of the more recent offers.

Who is recruiting Anthony the hardest?

"Georgia Tech," he said, "After them, I'd say Oklahoma State then Auburn."

Williams had a good visit to Auburn last month, along with a visit to UGA for their Junior Day. How was the trip to Georgia?

"It went well. They still didn't offer, but it was still good. I got to talk to the coaches. They told me to be patient because they like me."

Today, Williams went with some of his high school coaches to Atlanta to watch Georgia Tech practice. How was that experience?

"It was a good practice. It was cold out there, though. I got a chance to actually see the defensive line and the ends individually work. I had a chance also to listen in on the defensive meeting. First, Coach Wommack (defensive coordinator) led a meeting then they broke down into positions and I sat in with Coach [Giff] Smith and the D-line."

Coach Giff Smith is recruiting Anthony and would also be his position coach in the future should he choose to play for Tech. What are Anthony's thoughts on Coach Smith?

"He's a real straight-up guy. He hasn't beat around the bush. Everything he's told me has been true."

Coach Smith let Williams know early on that he was the number one defensive end that they wanted for the class of 2010. Coach Smith is making that fact true as well with how hard they're recruiting him. Georgia Tech, with a smaller signing class for 2010, will only be taking one defensive end in the class as well as one defensive tackle, a spot that was filled a couple days ago by Scout 300 DT Denzel McCoy.

With the prospect of coming in to play next to another high-caliber player, does that make it even more tempting to come to Tech? (Williams almost pulled the trigger early in the process to the Yellow Jackets)

"Yes, it's very encouraging to know another big-time player would be playing right beside me."

However, Williams still feels the same about waiting until summer to make a decision. Today was a good day though for him and he will be back again with his parents, as Coach Johnson asked of him today. He plans on bringing them to the spring game on April 18th. He will also try to make it to Auburn again this weekend. So after another month in the process, Williams said that Georgia Tech is still his leader. He says he is still open to everybody else, though, and that he likes Auburn and has had some good talks with Oklahoma State.
