Tony Zenon: "Playing It By Ear"

Tony Zenon - Profile

Tony, what are your current measurables?

"I am 5' 8" and weigh 170 pounds. I run the forty in 4.4 flat."

I understand you have some coaches coming by for a visit tomorrow?

"Yes sir, Coach Johnson and Coach Spencer from Georgia Tech are coming by to talk with me and my parents. They want to talk to me about college and how I could fit in at Georgia Tech on the football team. I'm not sure if they are coming down to offer, but I am hoping that is part of the reason they are coming down. We have been talking with one another for a good while and they know I am very interested in Georgia Tech and they are interested in me. We will see if an offer comes out of the visit. We have been playing it by ear and will continue to do so until we have our visit."

If Coach Johnson were to offer tomorrow, would you commit to them right then?

"I most likely will but I would like to talk it over with my parents and make sure that I am making the right decision and not a hasty one. I know Georgia Tech is a place I have always wanted to go to college and it has been a dream of mine to play football for Georgia Tech too. So, I can see myself making that commitment if an offer comes through but I need to talk to my parents as they are a part of my decision making process."

What other schools have been recruiting you?

"Central Michigan, UAB, Georgia Southern, Murray State, and Marshall are ones that have been recruiting me in addition to Georgia Tech. Just recently Rutgers has called and asked for some highlight film on me so they can look at my play on the field."

Do you have a top list of schools?

"Yes sir, I do. I will choose from the three of Georgia Tech, Marshall, and Georgia Southern."

Dale's Take:

Tony is very excited about talking to Coach Johnson and Coach Spencer tomorrow. He knows that Coach Johnson is the man to offer a player on offense a scholarship and he is pumped that Coach Johnson is making the trip down to Albany to visit him. We have set up a time to talk tomorrow about the trip and hopefully have some good news about his college choice.
