Corey Marshall Intrigued by Georgia Tech

Dinwiddie Athlete Corey Marshall

Dinwiddie (VA) High School athlete Corey Marshall has attracted the attention of a number of schools. The 6'2"-244 Marshall seems to be on everyone's radar of late.

One of those schools that are showing Corey Marshall a lot of interest is Georgia Tech. "I'm getting a lot of interest from them," said Marshall. "I talked to Coach (Al) Groh a few weeks ago and he said they like what they see on tape, but they haven't pulled the trigger yet and have made no promises that an offer is on the way."

Marshall's list of offers continues to grow. "I'm not really sure how many I have but at this point, I'm kind of going in the opposite direction, reducing that to a workable number."

Corey has already made some visits to schools showing him interest. "I've been to Virginia and Virginia Tech for their spring games and I have visits planned to Michigan and West Virginia."

Connecticut, Illinois, and North Carolina State are schools that have also jumped into the mix for Marshall. "I'm getting a lot of requests for summer camps but I'm not sure about how that's going to go, if at all."

In his conversation with Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Al Groh, Marshall learned that they project him as a defensive end with the possibility of also spending some time at outside linebacker.

When making his decision, Marshall will be playing close attention to the academic side of things. "I want to jump start my future and solidify myself for life by getting a good education." Marshall feels that all the schools he's considering can do that. "I'm looking for the best fit where I can develop socially and getting a pedigree that will help me in the league (NFL) if that's to be."

Corey knows one group of people he can go to in making that decision. "My coaching staff has had lots of experience putting players at Division One and Division Two schools and they have been great at keeping me informed." Marshall has also been getting help from those players who have been back to visit. They have been sharing their knowledge and experience with Corey.

Once Marshall returns from his visit to Michigan he plans on taking a month or two to evaluate the schools showing him interest. "I think I'll decide after that." In spite of not having an offer from Georgia Tech, Marshall will still give them consideration. "I'm intrigued by their program and it looks like they have a solid pre-season rating."
