Ky Madden "They Call Me Kid"

Guard Ky Madden

Ky Madden's been tearing things up in Arkansas at East Poinsett County high school in the Northern part of the state. At 6-5, 175 pounds, he made the switch from shooting guard to point guard about mid-season. The "Kid" will begin to talk with his family about his future and will make a decision sometime during his senior season.

Now that his high school season is over, Madden has been focused on AAU ball and has not been keeping close tabs on recruiting. When asked how many offers he had, Madden responded; "I'm not sure but it's somewhere around fifteen." His latest offer was from Missouri.

Ky had only made two visits thus far. "I've been to Arkansas and Ole Miss." One of the other schools that he'll have a chance to see this summer is Georgia Tech. "I'm supposed to go to an Elite Camp there this summer," said Madden. "I'm not sure when it is though."

Madden's AAU team has been hitting the tournament circuit this spring and will be in Los Angeles this weekend. Ky is not the only recruited player on the team. Among the players on the team is Arkansas commit Hunter Mickelson. "He's on the team with another player who has committed to Arkansas."

Is it safe to assume that Madden is also headed to Arkansas? His cousin Marcus Monk played football and basketball at Arkansas. "Not really," said Madden. "They're all at the same level for me now."

Madden has a few things in mind that will be factors in making his decision. "The coaching staff is important as well as playing time." Ky will talk to his parents and cousin Marcus Monk to get help in making that decision. "I think I'm going to wait a while and will probably make a decision during my senior year."

The summer will be a time for Madden to attend camps. "I'm going to a bunch of camps this summer; Paul Pierce, LeBron James, NBA, and a few others."

Madden's given name is Rashad and he uses the shortened version of his middle name Kytell but his teammates know him by another name. "They call me Kid cause I guess that's how I act sometimes."
