Roderick Byers has a small group of schools with interest. Roderick has been hearing primarily from only 3 schools at this point - Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech. South Florida is the only new school to have entered the picture. "All the rest are staying in contact with me to see how I am doing and to let me know that they are still recruiting me and want me at their school."
While Roderick is open to other schools, he indicates that the schools mentioned above are who he is hearing from most and where he will focus his recruiting at this time. "South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Clemson are the three schools that I am focusing on right now." South Carolina appears to be a school that has Byers interest. "I just got off a visit to South Carolina and really enjoyed my time there." Byers will be returning to Columbia for an official visit the weekend they play Alabama.
The official visit to South Carolina won't be his only official visit. He also wants to take official visits to Georgia Tech and Clemson. "I have to get with the coaches at each school and set up a time to visit them," said Byers. "I'll have to talk to Coach (Todd) Spencer at Georgia Tech and see when they want me to come for my official visit." Byers wants to visit all three (and maybe others) in order to compare them and make a decision. "I will not make a decision until I have visited all three schools."
Byers has been hearing from a recent Georgia Tech commit. "Vad Lee told me he was going to Georgia Tech and he really wants me to come with him," said Byers. "I know he is talking to several other recruits and he is very excited about Georgia Tech and wants a great class to come in with him." Byers liked what Lee had to see about his experience visiting Georgia Tech. "It is nice to know that another recruit thinks that highly of you to want you to go to school with him and play football."EDITOR'S NOTE/CORRECTION: In a subsequent conversation with Byers on 8/26/2010, it was learned that Byers is still open to other schools. But, his contact in recent weeks had primarily been with USC, Clemson, and Georgia Tech. The article above has been edited to reflect this new information.
